"Learn to love the life you live!"
TRANSFORM Your MIND!
Amber Weiss, LMHC, THTC, NCC
Founder of Transformative Mindset
Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor
Licensed to Practice in New York & Florida
I studied psychology for over 10 years and graduated from New York University with honors and a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and Wellness. Throughout my experiences, I have seen success in
working with individuals on the autistic spectrum, addictions, various anxiety disorders, trauma, depression, and emotional eating disorders. However, my scope of knowledge is not limited to the populations listed above.
Transformative Mindset Mission:
We believe that every individual has the power to find inner peace. Through specific techniques, such as talk therapy and structured goal setting, we can work together to overcome all hardships and progress to living a happier life. Regardless of the difficulties you are working to overcome, we are confident that through the development of a transformative mindset--we can work together towards making positive strides and achieve your ultimate goal(s)!
My Framework:
My theoretical approach is catered to the individual's needs and I specifically modify my methods based on what one needs to achieve their desired outcome. In most cases, I tend to combine Behavioral, Cognitive, Person-Centered, and Psychodynamic perspectives. Furthermore, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) are the primary modalities I use in my sessions. DBT is a motivational model that consists of having the control of awareness to be present to an experience and its outcome and then learning how to specifically modify your vision and get your preferred outcome. MBCT teaches an individual to be fully present in the moment and therefore have control over their feelings and thoughts. REBT consists of modifying your impractical and irrational beliefs to experience a rational and practical outcome. In witnessing breakthroughs, I have come to realize that various techniques and tools contribute to optimal success. I believe that each client may process therapy differently and it's essential to utilize multiple approaches when attempting to find the most suitable fit for each individual case.

"A healthy mind is the greatest treasure to find. I am dedicated towards helping you reach that treasure."
I graduated from Fordham University with my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling in 2018 and am currently pursuing a doctorate degree in School Psychology from Rutgers University. My experience consists of ages ranging from pre-kindergarten to adulthood. I have worked with clients experiencing difficulties related to anxiety, depression, and insomnia. I am trained in CBT-I or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. I additionally have extensive experience working with gender identity.
My Framework:
Person-centered, Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and a holistic approach are the primary modalities I tend to gravitate towards. I view my client as a whole person and take into account the characteristics that make them unique. I want to be able to empower my clients and give them the tools they need to succeed and make good decisions! I typically work in an integrative approach- uncovering past experiences and traumas while giving my clients the tools and freedom to move forward.

"I welcome the opportunity to work with you!"
I am a Master’s level Counseling student at New York University's Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness program. Additionally, I am receiving my advanced certificate in LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I am well-versed in the life experiences of queer individuals in NYC. My therapeutic specialties include treating anxiety and depression, working with LGBTQ+ individuals, identity exploration, healing from domestic trauma, fostering emotional and physical intimacy, and creative arts expression.
My Framework:
Personal growth is a lifelong endeavor through which we naturally encounter obstacles. Whether you are enduring difficult life transitions, trying to make sense of your experiences, or navigating tricky interpersonal relationships, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Therapy is a space to work towards clarity in an empathetic, thoughtful, and authentic manner.
I approach therapy from a holistic, person-centered, and integrated relational orientation. Looking at ourselves in the context of individual, interpersonal, and cultural cycles allows us to more clearly understand our life experiences and internal reactions. I employ CBT and mindfulness techniques in service of fostering coping skills, insight, and balance.

“Happiness is your human right, and I make it my duty to help you find it.”
I graduated with a major in Psychology and Psychoanalysis from Tel Aviv University and have a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Yeshiva’s Ferkauf Graduate School. I completed various pieces of training that taught me how to become a Trauma-informed counselor and work with individuals with a history of trauma, substance use, anxiety, depression, bipolar 1, schizophrenia, and other mood disorders. My goal is to help overcome the stigmatization of marginalized groups suffering from mental illness by gaining autonomy over their lives and mental health. Interning at the East Village Access PROS program exposed me to this population; however, mental illness does not discriminate and can impact each of us. It is my goal to be able to work with any client, regardless of skin color, socioeconomic status, and/or religion.
My Framework:
My preferred therapeutic modalities include psychodynamic, person-centered, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. With psychodynamic psychotherapy, I work with clients to find out how their previous life experience has impacted their current lives. It is integral to my work to use a person-centered approach where clients take an active role in their mental health journey. I listen carefully to each client throughout our work together, giving thought and attention to how to best meet their goals and needs. I incorporate Cognitive-Behavioral therapy in unlearning certain thoughts and behaviors to gain control. I also believe in teaching grounding techniques and mindfulness as tools that can be taught to clients to use outside of the therapy room. Regardless of intervention, I believe that each person is an expert in their own life. I am here to guide my clients in learning about themselves throughout their mental health journey.
